Welcome to my website!
Welcome to my website. I’m the USA TODAY bestselling author of Stolen Grace and the five books in The Pearl Series, Shades of Pearl, Shadows of Pearl, Shimmers of Pearl, Pearl and Belle Pearl, all Amazon bestsellers.
Stolen Grace is my newest book, a suspense about a family in turmoil, written from three points of view, Sylvia, Tommy and five-year-old Grace Garland. It is an emotional, heart-wrenching read about the many aspects of love and family bond, and also about the lengths some people will go to to get what they want. Stolen Grace is a roller coaster with twists and turns, a tale of lies and deception, of redemption and forgiveness. I wanted to create a nuanced antagonist; someone who is not your usual villain. I so hope you give Stolen Grace a try.
Shades of Pearl is the first book in The Pearl Series, followed by Shadows of Pearl, Shimmers of Pearl, Pearl andBelle Pearl. It tells the story of 40-year-old Pearl Robinson, a documentary producer who lives in New York City, divorced, living alone and who has not even dated for a few years.
Like so many women, she has given up on love, believing there is no point in even trying because it hasn’t worked out for her. She had an uninspired marriage – she and her husband drifted apart and now she finds herself not even bothering to find anyone new in her life.
I wanted to write a romance about a real woman who’d had some knocks and bruises. I know there are millions of women in Pearl’s shoes; lonely, insecure and who have lost all feeling of self-confidence. Not with her job (which is where she directs all her energy) but deep within herself (literally). She is beautiful – her friends describe her as looking like a modern-day Grace Kelly – but Pearl doesn’t feel that she is special in any way, thinking she has ‘girl next door’ looks. This may sound ridiculous to some – a beautiful woman knows she looks good, right? Well, I have friends who even when they were extremely successful fashion models had enormous self-doubt. Pearl was somebody I wanted to explore, hence the birth of Shades of Pearl.
Out of the blue, a man enters Pearl’s life. He is young (only 25), devastatingly handsome and a billionaire, no less. And French. He and his sister, Sophie Dumas, started a social media site called HookedUp, which is now even more popular than Facebook and Twitter. Pearl cannot believe that this man is attracted to her, knowing he could have any woman he chooses, but there is something about Pearl he finds irresistible, not least her quirky sense of humor.
So begins their love affair. The elusive Big O which had escaped Pearl through her mid-twenties and thirties is suddenly playing an important role in her life. She has been awakened in ways she never thought possible. Alexandre Chevalier really does have the magic touch. He is experienced, despite his years. Sophisticated. Cultured. A man who has really lived and been independent and self-sufficient from a very young age. But because of Pearl’s own insecurities, not to mention jealous third-parties and other external forces, their relationship is put to the test.
Pearl is not a sassy, cocky type who has all the answers, nor is she sweetly innocent. Nor is she how you may imagine a sensible ‘forty year-old’ to be. She is a real woman - a complex character with a past – we find out about her little by little, especially in Shadows of Pearl.
Alexandre Chevalier is not your usual hero, either. Not only was their age difference interesting to me, but it gave me the chance to explore two damaged people who fall in love with each other, in part, because of their faults and vulnerabilities. We find out more about Alexandre in Pearl and Belle Pearl as both novels are written from his point of view, adding depth to the story and revealing a lot more of his complex character and history.
I so hope that you’ll embark on Pearl’s and Alexandre’s unexpected journey and join the many thousands of readers who have loved the ride . As one reader said: ‘I recommend everyone should read this book.If you’re not 40 yet, you will be one day.’
Happy reading and thanks so much for visiting this website.
